U have to be happy when the job is permanent!

As some of you are aware, I am currently on a term contract which would expire on June next year. Well, something is gog to change, as there was a notification today from the organisation stating that the mgt would review those on such terms and may emplace them on permanent terms, just like most others in the organisation. The rationale behind is that the success of the organisation depends on the ability to attract and retain motivated staff of the right calibre. Such offer is on the discretion of the organisation and depends on the performance, attitude and potential of the respective individuals.

Shortly after ... a colleague rang me and said "have you heard of the good news... this was sth that you had been waiting for" .... sometime later in the day another asked so when you getting your car, and another said when you throwing dinner? It seemed that there was an indeed a joyous occasion. Well the one who spoke of the car got an instant reply from me that i am more than willing to be part of the 70% of our population that takes public tpt to work as mentioned by our minister. For goodness sake, i dun need a vehicle now! Even if i want, cun i afford now? I can only gather that he has the perception that I am hard up for this job to be permanent in order to fulfill all personal aspirations, perhaps what he perceived.

I share a view with some frens of the same organisation this afternoon that men are strange, at least this one here. He has been dreaming for the current situation to change as he felt he had been short-changed. But yet when it does changes for the better, he feels the other side knows that the other party seems to be salvaging from a gone situation, and for that he is NOT pleased because he has been "tormented" for years - it is just like every two/three years that you would be thrown in front of a judge and you have to justify your worth when you have done no wrong.

I guess in order not to disappoint the many concerned colleagues (some are sincere) i would have to get some food for them for our t-break. how can i let them down when there are so many "congrats"... perhaps Polar cakes would do
