Day 3 - Sea World

Our day began with the collection of our rented Camry from Hertz. Along the way, I took a shot of the HRC which was located at Centro. As Xin Yi did not have a good breakfast, we went to Centro and bought her muffin (low fat apple flavour - quite nice!) at Muffin Break. Over there, Ye-Ye and Nai-Nai bought a pair of gloves so that she can wear them in the chilly night.

We reached Sea World (www.seaworld.com.au) slightly before noon and hang around before watching the Water Ski show at the Grandstand.

After watching the performance, and treating ourselves with a buffet at Paraside Restaurant (which is the only one that served rice and noodles there), we jalan around seeing birds such as penguins and pelicans. Also there were two miserable polar bears which were not inclined to swim in the cold water. Strange right? Well, the keepers said they have gotten use to the sunny weather at Gold Coast.

We watched the dolphin show at the Dolphin Cove and Xin Yi definitely enjoyed herself more compared to the October trip at HK Ocean Park. Perhaps she can appreciate it better as she is older now, or we were sitting much closer this time round. Among the many stunts, the one that strikes her most is "dolphin yong (1) wei (1) ba (1) bye-bye". In this shot, you can see that the trainer was being thrown up in the air by two dolphins.

Ye-Ye saw Xin Yi was rather lethargic towards the end of the day and decided to buy her a cone of her favourite strawberry ice-cream to cheer her up. Obviously she was delighted and wanted to have a cone herself. Doreen decided to let her use a spoon instead but you could see that she was rather upset that Mummy was too slow!

That's no way we would allow her to finish the cone, and again Daddy had to come in and finish it off... on top of the boysenberry cone that he already had... (so, that explains why I am so fat ...)
We left at about 4+, and headed straight to the hotel which was ten minutes drive away. Xin Yi had her bath and went straight to nap. While she was sleeping, Doreen and myself went to search for souveniers - nougats (though they were made in WA), nuts... After Xin Yi woke up, we went for dinner and then to the night market along Esplanade. Not much stuff - mainly handicrafts, which are nice but expensive. We din really spent much time there as it was quite cold... fortunately, it was not far from the hotel. Xin Yi who was quite bored while we look-see ^2 became energetic when we went back to rooms ... running from one to another ... fortunately, she turned in early at about 11+ (compared to 12+/1+ in S'pore) ... else we would not have the energy to keep up with her.
