Home Bakery Part 2 - Cookies!
But as for the cookies, we had to start from scratch. So i had to get the flour and butter which we did not have in the fridge. But we made a blunder when we mixed the flour with the butter first rather than sugar with butter. I din think it was a big deal, since eventually everything would be all mixed up. I was wrong, the sequence does matter, and it took us a very long while (which i almost lost patience) to mix them evenly. Of course, it did not help that we did not have the peanut powder which we used flour to substitute instead!
The next tough part was to insert in the M&M's chocolates which the daughter wanted. We could not simply placed it on the unbaked cookies and sent everything in the oven, which otherwise it would melt (in the oven, not on your hands). Fortunately some wise judgement prevailed and with some good chopstick kung-fu i managed to place them one by one in the midst of baking while everything were still in the oven.

Of course, you can see that the daughter was always eager to help. She tried to help us with mixing the batter, but it almost made a mess, so we got her to press out the shape with the mould. She din need much coaxing to press out the stars and diamonds, which were later decorated with the colourful M&M's.
Honestly, we did not think too highly of it, since this was our maiden attempt. But I had to say that the cookies appeared appealing and the taste was actually good. The taste may not fight with the Butter shortbread from Tasmania leh, but can certainly give Mrs Field's a run for money. :)
