28May - Day3 HK - Disneyland

Finally Monday, the much awaited trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. Unlike the previous trip, we did not stay at the Disney Hotel, as it was really a hassle to check-in to the city hotel, check-out later, and then check-in to Disneyland hotel, especially with kids. Moreover, hearing friends and colleagues saying how easy was it to commute from town, we decided that making a day trip would be a better option.

Going to Disneyland from our hotel at Nathan Road (see my review of Holiday Inn Golden Mile in http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g294217-d299118-r7724906-Holiday_Inn_Golden_Mile-Hong_Kong.html) was preety straight forward. From the TST station, we took the MTR (Tsuen Wan Line) to Lai Keng, switch to Tung Chung Line which brings us to Sunny Bay, and from there, we took the Disney train which was a refreshing experience. Nicely decorated interior, coupled with cushion seats, and even the grab handles come in the shape of Mickey Mouse. The daughter was obviously delighted.

As we walked towards the main entrance, the sun was shiny bright, and the parents reminded us to shield the daughter from the sun, though i was not fond of that idea. However, the sunny day was short-live as dark clouds came along, and the rain came while we were on the queues to take photos with Mickey & Minnie and Pluto (whose whiskers kid of browsing the daughter's face - which nearly scared her off). I really had to give it to my parents as they did not seek shelter despite the rain - in fact most pple also persisted. Fortunately, the rain went away after a while, and we finally had our turns - of course, as you can see in the shot with the two Mouses - our trousers were all wet.

Much worse were to come after lunch, when the three of us went for the "Autopia" ride. Rain came, and it was so bad that those outdoor rides that swing up and down were suspended - luckily our rides were not affected. The three of us braved the rain and hopped onto this orange vehicle which went on this circuit. Only the daughter had her raincoat, and both missus and myself were drenched! So, had to buy ourselves two new T-shirts (ie spent more monies) to change, while waiting for the grand parade at 3.30pm.

You must be wondering why I had this shot of the daughter with one hand on her face. Wrong, her right hand was in fact covering her ear, while the left was waving to the Mickey and co. Why? Cos' she found the noise from the speakers during the parade unbearable and was covering both ears. But when she saw them, she was so excited that she had to do both at a go. Pretty amusing.

after the parade, we went to view the pics with Mickey and the photo shop (again, more $) when I spotted Goofy and Pluto outside. Quickly i dashed out with the daughter to have another shot taken. Now, we had shots of four - Mickey, Minne, Pluto and Goofy. I would have like to have more, so as to derive the best from each dollar you spent, but I was pleased to have "doubled" their trips'"performance" when we only got Mickey and Donald.
At night, we went back to Ladies Mkt again- this time round, the missus finally got the bags as price which she was satisfied - though honestly we were not very good in bargaining - else we would not have paid HKD70 for a Dora bag for the daughter.
