小超人 and Dora

Not sure how many watched the last episode of 小超人which was shown on last Sunday. What struck me was the language ability of two young children. One - a chinese girl who spoke fluent Japanese, all thanks to a persistent mum who wants her daughter to learn this skill. She also ensures that her daughter has a balance lifestyle by attending jazz dance. The other, a Fench-Chinese boy spoken French to his dad, Mandarin to his mum, and Cantonese to his maternal grandmother. He, also has other interest - Akido.

And yes, both sets of parents are obviously well to-do. Much better than me and you.

I wonder how many of you, maybe my colleagues, would know that i have a strong appreciation for French-accented English, much to their amuse. All these were due to spending too much time talking to French working here. In fact, i am kind of good in imitating pple, past examples such as Lim Swee Say and Ah-Bian. But of course with little practice, my skills are depreciating.

Anyway, I have also cultivated some form of interest in the daughter. Now that Dora is her favourite, she has more opportunities to be exposed to another language - Spainish. Thanks to the eager dad, she now knows "Gracias" and "De Nada", meaning Thank you and You are welcome.

Speaking of Dora, we brought her to watch the show at Forum Galleria. Seeing some ang-moh gals, dancing with Dora and her monkey Boots. Go there, of course has to spend monies lah - not me, but the missus getting one DVD. Btw, the two toys were courtesy from our national carrier - got it from our flight to/fro Hong Kong.

As for the daughter, i think we would be very happy if she could speak some Cantonese words, as we din want her to lose touch to her own dialect. As for those fanciful languages, i would be equally hapy if she can say "Shalom", "Bonjour", "Merci" and "Au revior"

""Au revior" for now...
