Weekday Dinner Date

Last Thursday, I met Boon Cheong, June Hwang and Loon CHian for dinner at Food Republic @ Vivo City. Nothing fanciful, simple hawker fares, with rounds of drinks and we sat there almost for two hours. How this meeting came about was becos LC had just returned for his home leave from a country "Far, Far Away" (no direct flight lah). He has since returned on Sunday and he would return for good on October. We wish him well.

For those who are not familiar, these are my mates from the days @ Depot Road, my formative life of my career. It was a pity that circumstances were not favourable for me to continue working there. But having said that, the "old birds" there told me that things were not as rosy as then, and the camadarie could not be compared with yester years, especially most of my mates had seen ventured out and plied their trade elsewhere. How i missed the days of Friday soccer and jogs around Telok Blangah area. Of course, not forgetting the long T-breaks on Sat enjoying our Roti John and kopi at the canteen.

So, any thots of gog back would be quashed... and i guess my next move, if any - but i hope there would be, should not be with the public sector. Having said that, i was telling Yvonne the other day that she holds the distinction among my frens who has jobs in three stat boards - IRAS, SSC and Spring. An interesting point noted was that SBs "killed" many trees cos' we wrote and made so many copies of papers. How true!

Back to the topic proper, i am currently awaiting confirmation for another dinner - this time with my mates in the Hall 2 Freshmen Orientation Camp 96 Committee. We have been making a point to meet once, if not twice a year (which we did - Feb and Sep). These are a bunch of good guys and gals (see above pic) which had slogged so hard during the camp preparation towards a common goal.

I am pleased that response for Monday dinner has been good so far, and i would definitely take a pic or two on that day. Apart from Nicole who is currently with GS in Tokyo, i believe at least most would be there. So Chris (our Chairman) and gang - I am looking forward to see you guys on Monday at Central Mall.

I just hope that such dinner "appointments" would still go on for another ten years, if not more... it would be a testament of our kinship. I can proudly say that none of the Hall 2 OMCs could beat us on this, and I am proud of it.

Btw, the guy with the handsome haircut next to me is Su Hock who has been asking me to join ranks with him. I guess i would resemble him one of these days 8]
