Dead Sea ... and Algae

I seldom discussed of anything related work, but this is an exception, cos it was a very interesting observation by a colleague from Corp Comm.

The other day, she dropped me an email asking for status of a trial we did on the train, which I responded shortly. She replied and thanked me for the prompt response. An out-of-office reply also came from her mail box saying that she was supposed to be on sick leave. Then somehow, she went on to say that there are many w/i the organisation who took their own sweet time in reponding to Corp Comm request, sometimes not even at all.

Then, she described these pple are suffering from "Dead Sea Syndrome". For which she offered a very good definition:

"... People who take /receive but don't give back. I call this the "Dead Sea Syndrome"! : (You know how the rivers flow into the Dead Sea and none of the water everleaves except thru evaporation, the water became so salty with all the minerals that no life can exist in there? Likewise, some ppl don'treciprocate kind deeds; they keep on taking and not giving. (worse still, some think it's their entitlement!) Eventually, they will also become like the Dead Sea... dead spiritually & emotionally. They become so repulsivethat ppl tend to avoid coming into contact with them.... "

I described to another fellow colleague.. who offered a even wackier definition. "Why use such a long term to describe them, simply call them algae lah!"
