Finding Tombliboos

I was at UK last week attending a course at University of Birmingham. One thing which I promised the daughter was to find her a toy of Tombliboo Eee. If you watch the programme "In the Night Garden", you would definitely know this character which is one of the three Tombilee Boos. If you are not familiar check this out http://www.inthenightgarden.co.uk/

Prior to the trip, i did a research from the net, finding locations of toy shops in Manchester as i would have a free day there. Despite all that, it was not easy, as the Hamley's (equivalent of Toys R Us but of a smaller scale) at House of Fraser did not have any. The kind salesman directed me to Argos, another store which offers an unique concept of shopping - you run th'ro'the catalogue of you want and pay it first and then wait for collection. I checked out the system and it was indicated that they had stocks. Happily i paid the cashier but unfortunately they had other figures but not the Tombliboos! So, frantically i searched around the Manchester Arndale - a large shopping complex at the city centre... one shop after another (Boots, Marks & Spencer, WH Smith, etc) the search was to no avail... As i was running short of time (need to catch a train to Birmingham at 3.58pm), i went to the final stop at Debenhams enroute to the Picadilly station. And it was my saviour. Not only one, but three Tombliboos! Though the daughter was asking for one, i was so excited with finding it that i bought all three. Another reason was its extremely small size - each is small enuf to sit nicely on your palm!
The daughter was delighted when i sent this pic from Birmingham. I was to have placed all three on her bedside when i arrived home early Sunday morning but i was too tired that i went straight to the bed. Nevertheless she was excited with the Tombliboos so much so that she said that she would bring them rather than the usual Barneys, Minnie... etc for her o/s tours. For the whole of this evening, we have been playing hide and seek - placing her three new toys in obsecure corners of her room for us to find (we took turns). But no matter how difficult it was, nothing beats the shopping "hunt" i had two Saturdays ago. And it was well worth it.
