Two museums

Capitalising on the open house during the recent Hari Raya holiday, we went to the Singapore Arts Museum where there were some activities for kids... unfortunately, they require registration as these were more elaborate programmes which ran at certain timings.. only the spray tattoos, balloon sculpting and orgami are available. Though the daughter had both her wrists sprayed with tattoos, she din get to do any arty stuff, and this was a pale comparison with the things she did at the Asian Civilisation Museum some weeks ago... it was thus a disappointment for her.

Nevertheless, we went to the National Museums of Singapore, hoping for better stuff, and she seemed happier with the making of pencil holders... i also prefer there too, as the environment was more refreshing with the wide atrium style architecture coupled with nice skylight. In fact i even got the opportunity to view an exhibits of Singapore in the 19th century.

Few days after the visit, i dropped an email to the CE of NHB, copied to its Chairman, thanking them, particularly its staff and volunteers, for the efforts by the Boards and its museums for organising such open house. I was surprised to receive their prompt replies on the following morning! Prof Tommy Koh even suggested that we consider the Singapore Philantic Museum as the next destination as he felt the exhibits are more child friendly.

Well, we certainly would pen that in for Deepavali, assuming they would open the doors FOC again!
