Broadband connection and upgrading works

Finally, I am able to post sth, having been heavily affected without DSL connection for more than a week. It all started on last Wednesday, when the DSL light kept blinking on the modem, and failed to stablise. I rang up the telco who told me there was indeed sth wrong with the line, and arranged for a technician to come on Friday.
The indian uncle with think gold chain came after the stipulated time, and claimed there was loose connection but that has been tightened, so i should not have problem.
However, things did not improve, and he actually asked me to call the internet subsidiary of the same company to seek him as there was nothing he could do. I told him my broadband was with someone else, but he said it is ok.
So I called, and the customer svc chap found it hilarious. Me too.
So, there was no surfing and email over the weekend, and i wrote another email to my ISP, whom I already spoke to on three occasions. Well, they did call me this morning but i was not attending a trg and could not answer the phone.

anyway, on friday i went to carrefour to pick up another set of phone cables and microfilter. i have at least five sets each, cos has been told by many, incl the tech support from isp, that these are possibly causes. the guy at carrefour said he had similar problem, and it was found to be due to poor power due to diversion of svcs as there was construction. so he added an UPS and the problem solved.

think of it, there was some digging work downstairs, and i saw some exposed cables. could this be the cause? i saw this morning, that the dug areas had been filled.
