National Day @ the Museum
Went to the Museum on National Day. I saw the half-page advert on ST by NHB that all admission to all museums would be FOC as part of the ND celebration. Further checks on the website shown that there would be a carnival at the National Museum with colouring competition, face-painting, etc... just the right type of activities for the daughter to enjoy and to allow ourselves to immense in the celebration mood, afterall it was rather unlikely for us to join in the fun at the Bay later the day.
Surprisingly the daughter woke up early and we left home at about 10 odd. While waiting for the bus, Missus txt her fren Ling Ling to say that we would be heading there and surprise surprise, they were in fact gog there too. The daughter was definitely excited seeing Yi Xi - the two were like long loss frens and hugged one another when they met. It took little time before they found themselves a small table and started colouring and sharing tips on their edition of the merlion. In between, she popped over to the other corner to have a yellow star painted on her hand, but the five tiny silver stars on each corner came off in no time much to the annoy of the daughter, and missus had to bring her back to ask for replacements!
Unfortunately we din have much time for the exhibits as it was near lunch time and we headed for Raffles City. I was wondering how come so many children were holding to those purple, white and red balloons. Of course, being a eager dad, i tried my luck at the entrance of City Hall station to see if i can get a couple of this for the daughter (though she is not fond of balloons these days) and true enuf, the NS boys (i believe so, though they not in green) were busy giving out caps and flags as well....
So here i was ... holding to two rather large balloons (with sticks of course) as we plied through Robinsons and Market Place ... Rather silly for an adult but i was actually enjoying it with so many pple in red and in joyous mood. This made up for my disappointment for not being there to enjoy the parade 1st hand (i marched in the '92 parade while serving NS). If the daughter could bear with the loud aircraft and fireworks noise, i would definitely bid for the tickets next year.
