New shoes, new beginning

I bought a pair of Asics sport shoes after much hestitation due to its hefty price. Also, i was wondering if i should try Saucony or Brooks instead. But knowing that i need to lose some weight to bring the BMI down as well as the chlestrol, i have to change my regime of zero exercise. Having addicted to running since NS, and not a keen racket game person, the option seems obvious.

So, I went to the Running Lab at Funan Centre Sunday evening after seeing the recommendations by runners in web forums. True enuf, after telling the chap there that i had under pronation problem, and my unforgiving knees (which led to my down grade), he made a few suggestions and eventually i settled for the Asics Cumulus VIII. This is my second pair of Asics - the first was during NTU 1st yr but unfortunately it was stolen on the wee hours of Sayurday morning at Hall 2.

Apart from the shoes, i also "invested" on a knee strap by Cho-Pat (http://www.cho-pat.com/) - which until yesterday a company i never hear of. The amazing thing was that this toy costed me $49! So, all in all, it was $220+ (and thankfully this would be featured in my next month's Visa bill).

Anyway, i was so excited to try these out, and i was exceptionally pleased. Thanks to the cooling weather, running was becoming a breeze, and i wonder if the "gel" did provide the bouncing and cushioning. But, i shall not imdulge in finding the true, but rather concluded that it had worked (well, it got to be after spending a bomb).

Fyi, yours truly would be gog for the Sheares Bridge Run this Sunday with my former running kaki at NTU Tian Fa. He was someone whom i could pace to, but i am sure with his size and fitness i would likely be seeing again until the finishing line. But completing it would be a real challenge. I have not gone for any serious running since the '96 Marathon so i hope to make a comeback ...
I am all fired up!
