Dumpling Fun

Yesterday was the Chinese festival of Dong Zhi (冬至), and we have this tradition of making dumplings (汤圆) at home, rather than to buy those pre-made ones. The daughter was very excited and much looking forward to it. So on the run-up to the event, there were a lot of creative ideas popping up, including one using M&Ms (dunno whether was it the missus or her who thot of it).
If you could make out from the "creations" from the above photo, one was made of M&Ms and the other (supposed) to resemble a pig or mouse. Fortuntaly, i took the series of photos early, cos as expected her excitment was short-lived, and we were left to clean up the messes - which was of course nothing new.

For the record, she has yet to try on those dumplings. Hopefully next yr - as the chinese saying goes, one dumpling represents one year, and you would grow taller if you meet your "quota". But for sure, i din take thirty-five of them, else the tummy would have a hard-time. Somehow, i am less tolerant with glutinous rice nowadays. Another sign of ageing? I hope not...
