Ouch ... headache!

I got a severe headache yesterday. Not physically, but for the simple fact that my paymaster had told me that the increment i am getting this yr is only this much, because i have reached the max for the current grade. Which means if next yr no promotion (if i am still there), then i would have to do the "han-ta-ka-ki"- meaning i march on the spot!

Quite a few pple around had similar fate, some already like that for a yr or so. It is really depressing that they do not disclose the range for each grade, and we would only know it when we hit the ceilingl. The talks of retaining talents for the good of the organisation really shocked me. Not that I am expecting to move up, but cun they give a bit more to appease this poor chap?
But i guess not moving quick enuf allow a steady progression. I cun imagine for those individuals, some younger than me but already two grades higher. The next higher grade can qualify them to be director level. But with the incumbents still there, would there be a chance for them? Well, answer is that they would get frustrated earlier.

And what would they do? Simple, leave.

Maybe contented to do a the stationary march isn't too bad after all. Maybe, five yrs in an organisation is a bit too long ...

Extra - the pay rise across all ministries does not seem to impact on us at all, me at least. Perhaps, time for me to apply to PSD as AO.
