Shower time!

I would rather be embarassed to say this, but today was the first time that I helped bathe Xin Yi, and how old is she? Three years! Think many dads fathers must have shared this task with their missus, and some I known assume complete responsibility of bathing their children. Performance wise, I would rate myself a 5 out of 10. Did the job, but could have saved my daughter the misery of having water splashed in her eyes while doing the shampoo.
Well, there is always the next time. Hopefully, practice makes perfect.

Not sure if how many had read this FULL-page advert in Sunday Life by the National Family Council, or sth like that. It featured a 39-yr old Associate Consultant of the A&E dept at CGH. What so big deal was that she opted to work part-time, and CGH being a pro-family organisation granted her request. She was able to juggle her work and at the same time taking good care of the two kids. How many would be envious of her.
I guess many of us would have wanted to do that. That's of course, employer has such practice, and most importantly, deep pockets in the family. In the above case, both husband and wife are medical professionals. That explains why.
This links me to my previous entry of a colleague who is resigning to take up a post in the rapid growing Middle East. I spoke to another colleague mid week. He just came from Japan on a working trip. I was told that he had been highly regarded by his contractor, and was offered to work for them in the Middle East as well, which this company was heavily involved in.
He did not take up such offer. Reason was that he is needed in Singapore. Family reasons, which I fully agree with him. Sometimes circumstances remind us that we should not be self-centred in such situations. This is one lesson which I should teach another colleague who proclaimed that we (when he is actually looking at me) should leave to take up o/s offers which are better paid and provide greater exposure. But why is he still in Singapore? Perhaps he is not good enuf to have been hunted.
How ungrateful of him for saying that when he actually took up the organisation's scholarship for a postgrad course. I cun blame him though... he must have fared badly in the recent appraisal.
